Frustrated When "Robbed"

Back in August of 2012 I planted a letterbox at the place I go to get my hair cut. Tyrus introduced my family to this place and our hair cut person is awesome! I had an idea to plant a micro box where the box was a little bottle and the stamp was on the other side of the cork that kept the bottle shut. In the bottle would be a scroll of paper for the logbook. I needed to plant it inside for fear that it wasn't tight enough to keep water out. I chose our hair salon place because not many people know about the place and my hair dresser is really friendly.
A couple of weeks ago I got a report from some boxers that the box was missing. I didn't understand how an indoor letterbox that sat in a plastic indoor tree could just disappear. I then found out that the boxers were rudely treated by an employee who worked there. The door was slammed in their face and was told the box was missing.
That made me really mad. This weekend Tyrus' sister went to get her hair cut and asked about the box for me. It is indeed gone. My hair dresser and the owner of the small salon loved having the letterbox there. It brought in new people and new business. They searched all over the place and didn't find the box. We believe the women who shut the door in the boxers' faces took the box. I know the last person to find the box and that letterboxer wouldn't take a box. Unless another letterboxer took the box and didn't log their find, it was most likely the other women who works there.
This really makes me upset that the box was/could have been taken my an employee. I had permission to have the box there and even left contact information if there was an issue with the box.
I'm not quiet sure what I'm going to do. Recarve it? Replant it? Replant it in a different location? I don't know.
I would have never thought that I would find myself in this situation. Taken by animals. Fine. Taken as trash. Fine. Swept away by a storm. Fine. But do employees who may be annoyed with a box have to flat out take it?
